Y’all, my blog turns ONE years old today!!!

I officially launched my blog on October 1st, 2018 and I absolutely had no clue what I was doing. However, I knew I had a dream. As I stated in my very first blog post (HERE), I started my blog to provide a creative outlet to express my love for fashion, home décor, beauty, fitness, and life overall. I wanted to create an environment to collaborate with women and be creative.  My ultimate goal was to help women express themselves through fashion or show them a new beauty product that might be life changing. So, I told myself in September 2018, “What the hell? LET’S DO THE DAMN THING!!”

I had no idea how to make a website but I began doing research, spent hours reading blogs on how to start a blog, watched tons of YouTube Videos, and of course lots of trial and error. I began reaching out to like minded individuals (aka blogging besties) and started this journey with no direction. This year I have learned so much and honestly can’t believe how far I have come; but trust me I still have a lot to learn. Unfortunately, there is no handbook on “how to become a blogger”.

As much as this year has been amazing and I have grown so much in this industry. I can’t sit here and write this blog post and not mention the struggles that I have faced. Unfortunately, in the industry comes the comparison game; I am not skinny enough, I am not pretty enough, I don’t have the latest clothes, I don’t live in a 3.5 million dollar house, I don’t have $40,000 worth of handbags, etc. This list could go on and on. If you noticed from March- June I stepped away from my blog and social media. Sadly, I let the “comparison game” get the best of me. After a few weeks of clearing my mind, I began to remind myself that Instagrams and social media account (blogs, YouTube, Facebook) are a highlight reel. Each individual behind the account is a human with struggles, problems, and insecurities. We are not all perfect (even though instagram might portray that), we all have problems, we all struggle, and we all have insecurities. So I put on my  big girl pants, put some red lipstick and high heels on and looked in the mirror and told myself “LET’S DO THE DAMN THING”!!!! Okay, maybe I didn’t do that, but it sounds good (haha)!!

Honestly, the past few months I have taken a different approach with blog. I am focusing more of my energy on creating an environment to collaborate with women and be creative. I have been focusing my energy on my original intent. I began to ask myself, why did I start this blog? It wasn’t to be the skinniest, the prettiest, to have the latest clothes, or to live in a 3.5 million dollar house. It was to help women express themselves through fashion or show them a new beauty product that might be life changing. Even if I have the smallest impact on one person, it’s still an impact!

So with that said, here are some of my goals for the blog and my personal life:

Goals: Blog and Personal

My goals for the rest of 2019 and 2020

  1. Graduate with my Masters Degree in Educational Human Resource Development
  2. Launch a new business with Colton and my brother (more details coming soon)!
  3. Treat my blog more like a business and not let fear take over.
  4. Attend a blogger conference and create more of a brand for myself.
  5. Attend New York Fashion week 2020.
  6. Build my email list (if you are not already on my email list please add yourself if you would like to be notified of new blog post)

Most Memorable Events

Throughout this year I have had amazing opportunities to work with women and brands from all over the world. I started this blog with no direction; not having the slightest clue how to make a website or work with a brand. This year I have been blessed and have had some amazing opportunities. However, I think the top 3 my most memorable events have been working with Loft to launch their spring collection this last spring, meeting amazing women from all walks of life, and growing as an individual.

This would not be possible without yall.

However,  NONE of this could be possible without you all!!! I cannot thank you enough for the support, for reading my blog post, the positive comments, buying from my links, and attending events (honestly, the list could go on and on). It truly means the absolute world to have this little space on the internet. I am overwhelmed with gratitude to have such a great support system from my followers, friends, and family. With that being said, CHEERS to this upcoming year!!!!

As always,
